The Chattanooga Theatre Centre will hold "dog-ditions" next week for the four-legged star of the holiday musical "Annie."

The top dog will be talented, well-trained and lovable, according to producers.

"We are looking for a dog with star quality," said "Annie" director Maria Chattin-Carter.

The dog cast in the role can be large or small, male or female, purebred or mutt, "as long as they're good with kids, take direction well and are not disturbed by loud music and applause."

The selected dog will immediately join nightly rehearsals (the rest of the cast has been in rehearsal for more than a month) and then perform live onstage Dec. 7-23, including several daytime school shows.

Sandy will pose for a professional headshot and also may be asked to participate in television interviews and make promotional appearances.

Auditions are 5:30-7 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, Nov. 12-13, in the lobby of the Chattanooga Theatre Centre, 400 River St. For more information, call 267-8534.
