“We still have a few dates left for Christmas parties, but we’re also here if a group just wants to stop by for coffee and desserts after shopping,” says Betty Kyriakidis, who owns and operates the restaurant. “We can do last-minute party trays, dessert trays or off-premise catering. You can get a cookie tray or mixed dessert tray with mini desserts that are perfect to drop off for holiday events.”'

The Acropolis’ staff is still accepting reservations for both in-house gatherings and off-site catered events. The versatile restaurant can handle anything from a work luncheon to a full-course buffet for a family gathering, and everything in between. Guests who are preparing the main entrée themselves can save a little time by ordering The Acropolis’ delicious sides or desserts to accent the meal. The popular mini dessert tray includes bitesize éclairs, rum balls, baklava, chocolate baklava and other popular sweets.

“This winter we’re incorporating a lot of our old specials created by my husband Teddy, like corned beef and cabbage and roasted stuffed pork,” Kyriakidis says. “We’re going to incorporate a lot more new items after the New Year.”

The popular Mediterranean- style restaurant already introduced two new recipes this winter to tempt guests’ palates. The new chicken pasta Eugene is prepared with sautéed chicken, prosciutto ham, mushrooms and Kasseri cheese in a cream sauce topped with cellentani pasta. Another new addition to the specials menu is the vegetarian mushroom and spinach baked ziti. The dish includes mixed cheeses, fresh spinach and mushrooms baked to a lasagna- like consistency.

The menu also continues to offer traditional favorites such as stuffed eggplant prepared with onions and tomatoes and served with marinara sauce. The popular “Waist Watchers” menu is also still available. It provides Weight Watchers points for each dish and includes delicious dishes, like the strawberry chicken spinach salad with fresh spinach, chicken, sliced strawberries, smoked Gouda cheese and pecans in a honey-lime ginger dressing for 6 points.

Most dieting diners believe desserts aren’t allowed, but The Acropolis’ selection of sugar-free desserts provides a haven of healthier sweets. The chocolate amaretto cheesecake, peanut butter Neapolitan ice cream, strawberry cake and Napoleon are among the guiltlessly delicious options.

With the holiday season drawing to a close, The Acropolis is looking to the new year and already has big plans for keeping the restaurant fresh in the minds of guests and the surrounding community.

“Since the family has had so many health issues in the past year with Mr. Teddy and our son, now we’re concentrating on freshening things up,” Kyriakidis says. “After the New Year, we will start making changes to the menu and we’re going to do some remodeling and such. We are geared up for some pretty good changes after the holidays.
