A Christmas concert scheduled today, Dec. 6, at Covenant College promises suites and sweets of the season -- music fitting the themes of "Light Everlasting" and "Peace of Christmas," followed by a dessert reception.

The concert will feature Christmas music from a variety of countries and cultures, including selections from Handel's "Messiah," Berlioz's "L'enfance du Christ" and the African song "Betelehemu," as well as several traditional carols. The audience will sing along on some pieces.

The Covenant Chorale, brass ensemble, orchestra, Madrigal Singers, Renaissance Consort and professor Rosella Ewing will perform. Professors David Long and Lok Kim are conducting.

The dessert reception will be held in the Great Hall immediately following the concert and will conclude with all singing "Silent Night."

"It promises to be a warm, worshipful evening of music ... in celebration of Jesus' birth," said college vice president Dr. Jeff Hall.
