Luke List has had an easy time getting around in Panama this week because his caddie is fluent in the languages of golf and Spanish.
The caddie is his 23-year-old sister, Bekah, who is a teacher in Catoosa County.
The pairing of siblings has worked out well around town and at the Club de Golf de Panama.
List is tied for fifth place at 7 under par after shooting a 3-under 67 Friday in the Nationwide Tour event. He is two shots behind leader Kevin Kinser.
"It's great having a translator," List wrote in an e-mail conversation. "We are having a great time so far. We got in Saturday night in order to have a full day to see the sights -- the Panama canal and some ancient ruins. Pretty cool stuff."
The former Baylor School and Vanderbilt star is near the top of the leaderboard after missing the cut in his first two Nationwide Tour events of the year.
"My first round was virtually mistake-free with a few putts missed," List wrote, to avoid cell-phone surcharges. "Today was my typical interesting round. I had a roller-coaster front and a very solid nine to close."
List made four birdies and no bogeys in his final seven holes Friday.
"The golf course is very good and fits my eye nicely," List wrote. "I look forward to being in contention and will try to do the same things I've been doing.
"My sis is doing a great job of keeping me loose and giving me positive encouragement."
Chattanooga Classic tournament director Mickey McCamish said List will be the featured golfer on the front of Thursday's tickets for the October Nationwide event at Black Creek Club.
