New Tunes with TFP videographer Christian Bruce

This week’s MUSICcast is all about new music. Christian Bruce, the TFP’s resident videographer, is a self-proclaimed connoisseur of music. Like me, Christian is willing to give up and coming bands a listen before immediately tossing the album into the trash can. Our water-cooler chats often consist of questions like “Heard any good albums recently?” or “ What did you think of the new (insert hip, indie-rock band here) release?” This week, we’re bringing that water-cooler discussion to the web. You’ll hear snippets of four songs from albums we’ve been listening to lately. If this podcast proves to be successful, we might make it a weekly thing as a separate podcast. That’s where you come in. Tell us what you think.

Listen Here.

Nightfall

Ziggy’s

Charles n’ Myrtle’s

Monte Montgomery

Some shows:

Alt. Country rockers Blue Mountain will perform at Nightfall tonight in Miller Plaza. Opening the show is Chattanooga’s own Uncle Lightnin’. Show starts at 7 p.m. Best thing: It’s free.

Saturday night, Ziggy’s (the venue behind the liquor store of the same name) will host a slew of scary sounding bands: Eloquence Of Suffering, Gravebound, Wraith Manger, and Argentinum Astrum (Knoxville). It should be fun. Only $5. Showtime is 9 p.m.

For a more laid back show, the Starlings will perform at Charles n’ Myrtle’s Coffeehouse on Saturday night. If you’ve never seen a show at the coffeehouse you’re missing out on an always intimate, wonderful performance and the best complimentary cookies in Chattanooga. Showtime is 8 p.m.

Tuesday night, prepare to be blown away by the guitar skills of Monte Montgomery at Rhythm & Brews. His Riverbend set was fantastic. The clean-up crew had to bring in a street sweeper to pick up all the jaws. He’ll be joined by the not-too-shabby Ari Hest. Showtime is 10 p.m.

Have a great weekend and be sure to drop an e-mail.
