Let’s talk about Zeuhl, baby.
French Zeuhl music is a genre created by Christian Vander and his band Magma . The sound originated in the early to mid 1970’s and features elements of prog rock, free jazz and chamber rock. Vander is also famous for creating an entire language called Kobaian , of which all of Magma songs are based. It’s really difficult to describe Zeuhl music without hearing it. I encourage you to listen to this week’s MUSICcast and explore a wonderful sub-genre of music that is rarely recognized in mainstream press. Enjoy. Comments are welcomed.
