Pedal power: Bicycle task force meets Tuesday to plan

The Chattanooga Urban Area Bicycle Task Force invites area cyclists to attend a meeting on Tuesday at the Development Resource Center downtown.

The task force includes government officials, transportation professionals and citizens who work on making bicycling safe and fun in Chattanooga, said Philip Pugliese, the organization’s bicycle coordinator.

“Cycling is on the increase. ... People find it’s an efficient and economical way to get around town,” he said.

“We are nationally recognized as a bicycle-friendly community and we’re working very hard to expand a number of bicycle facilities in the community,” Mr. Pugliese said. “We’re very interested in encouraging people who enjoy cycling to assist us in planning for 2009.”

For more information, visit www.bikechattanooga.org or call 643-6997. The meeting will be held from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the Development Resource Center, 1250 Market St., Room 2A.
