Foreclosure help available from state
Free certified foreclosure counselors are available to help consumers who are facing foreclosure in Tennessee. A network of free certified foreclosure counselors is available to consumers by calling 2-1-1 or going to the Tennessee Housing Development Agency’s Web site at thda.org/foreclosure/counselors.pdf.
THDA is affiliated with the state of Tennessee. Consumers may file complaints about foreclosure rescue companies or other consumer issues by calling the Tennessee Division of Consumer Affairs at (615) 741-4737 or (800) 342-8385. Or, consumers may go online to www.tennessee.gov/consumer.
Mortgage volume rises 17 percent
The Mortgage Bankers Association has released its Weekly Mortgage Applications Survey for the week ending Oct. 24.
The market composite index, a measure of mortgage loan application volume, was 476.7, an increase of 16.8 percent on a seasonally adjusted basis from 408.1 one week earlier. On an unadjusted basis, the index increased 29.6 percent compared with the previous week and was down 30 percent compared with the same week one year earlier. The refinance index increased 28.5 percent to 1489.4 from the previous week
Seminar for buyers held on Thursday

State Realtors host leadership program
Applications are now being accepted for the 2009 class of Leadership TAR. Program criteria, dates of the retreats, program criteria and more are explained on the application form, which is available on the Tennessee Association of Realtors’ Web site. The application deadline is Dec. 1.
