Chattanooga: Early morning shooting victim dies
The victim from this morning’s shooting at a Chattanooga night club has died, police said.
Jacquard M. Petty, 21, was pronounced dead on arrival at Erlanger hospital, said Lt. Kim Noorbergen, police spokeswoman. There have been no charges filed in the case yet and no arrests have been made, police said.
Police said Mr. Petty was at the 2301 Club at 2301 Milne St. near Dodson Avenue when a verbal disagreement with another person began shortly before 2:30 a.m today.
The fight spilled into the street and a nearby parking lot, at which time a man produced a handgun and confronted Mr. Petty, police said. As Mr. Petty ran down the street, the other man fired several shots.
In the 2200 block of Milne Street, Mr. Petty either collapsed or fell and was shot near his left eye by the man, said Chattanooga police spokeswoman Lt. Kim Noorbergen.
Homicide investigator's preliminary findings are that Mr. Petty and a woman were involved in a verbal argument at the club and the argument continued to the parking lot, where the female and the Mr. Petty’s girlfriend got into a fight. The unidentified female's boyfriend produced a handgun, police said.
Detectives are asking anyone with information to call the Chattanooga Police Department at 698-2525.
