Charlie Louvin visits Studio '99
Everything I’ve read so far about the upcoming ChattaHippie music festival has me excited. The acts vary from folk to blues to country music with a little rock n’ roll thrown in there too. On Sep. 21, Charlie Louvin will headline the festival with his band. Recently, the promoters of the festival stopped by with Charlie to discuss the festival in detail. I also had an opportunity to record an interview with Charlie Louvin about his career. And what a career it has a been. He has recorded with Elvis, Dolly Parton, Emmylou Harris, Lucinda Williams among others. He’s performed with the aforementioned as well as bands like Cake and Alison Krauss & Union Station. He was a member of The Louvin Brothers, one of the most influential Country music duos to have ever recorded. His 2007 self-titled release was nominated for a Grammy Award. Charlie Louvin is a big deal.
Some shows:
Michelle Shocked will headline at Nightfall tonight in Miller Plaza. The show is at 7 p.m. Admission is free.
Abbey Road Live is back at Rhythm & Brews tonight. This is the best Beatles cover band I’ve seen and the only one I’d recommend seeing. Tickets are $10. Showtime is 10 p.m.
The Riverhouse, formerly the Black Sheep Pub, will host an evening of acoustic music on Saturday night. The bands: The Something Bros., 40oz. Folklore and more. Showtime is 10 p.m.
Have a great weekend.
